Get to Know Robert Holland: Photographer, Director & Partner

Robert grew up on Sanibel Island, Florida. He studied Biology and Marine Science at the University of Miami. His early interest was underwater photography at a time few were doing it. The underwater projects grew into photographing people, travel, resorts, and more.

Robert is known to shoot from a zooming helicopter skid feet over the water, tied to a boat hull, trolling behind a fishing boat as bait, or jumping from an aircraft onto a moving car – all in pursuit of images. The world is full of “perfect” pictures and Robert is not interested in capturing them. He focuses on capturing the moment and the feeling, he puts the camera where most would not and uses a lens that may go against convention. Robert enjoys working with no lighting, minimal crew, simply enduring what each situation offers. He has found that it is not about what he produces, but the process itself.

"Working simple reminds me of early work when I’d run off to a country for weeks at a time – or shoot on the fly for Newsweek Magazine. It makes me a better photographer, no crews or extensive gear – just me."

He lives in Stuart, Florida. Robert is an independent photographer at Robert Holland Photographer and Photographer/Director at SPLASH Productions.
